Fish Tales by Williams 1992 - SOLD

Check List When Buying A Pinball

Pinball

Fish Tales is a great family game. Fun for kids and adults. Very engaging. Very pretty playfield. New plastics, LEDs, posts, rubbers, decals. Play field has been taken apart and cleaned thoroughly. New DMD. New topper cover.

Just got this in and did the initial triage and minor repairs to get it 100% working. The cabinet is a bit faded. The playfield is dirty but will clean up nice. Some insert decals will need to be replaced. I have the dome for the topper but it didn't fit in that space in my work area. Although it would probably need a new shiny dome. Three plastics are broken as shown below. But everything works.

Let's keep track of time on this project:

* Triage game to find problems: 1 hr

* Order parts: 2hrs

* Fix all initial problems: 11 hrs

* Install fish decal: 4 hrs

* Install LEDs: 5 hrs

* Cleaning, install rubbers, plastics, ramps 24 hrs

The pictures have been taken with the glass off to get a better picture.

This game comes with a manual.

The topper has the dome but not in the photo. It will probably need a new shiny topper. The display is not good.

The boat plastic is chipped at the bottom right as shown with the blue arrow. This game will need 3 plastics replaced and the plastic protectors from pinballdecals.com.

item

The right plastic was cracked and glued back together.

item

The right sling is broken at the bottom. Also note the fish decal will need to be replaced. Actually, I believe all the decals down here should be replaced.

I have a replacement display that is missing the two right columns but will look better than the current display. I will unscrew the 4 screws. I will add the new display later. New displayed has been added and is part of the game for sale.

Replacement display. The middle is not faded. The flash did that. Note the right two columns are not working.

This picture shows the display is nice but clearly shows the right two columns are missing since the box is not complete.

The board is always replaced when I get these games. But before I replace the board, I always check for burns on connectors J120 and J121. These control the 5 general illumination circuits. The top connector is burnt. The wires are not connecting which means 3 of the 5 circuits are not working.

item

When I pulled the connector out it was burnt to a crisp. LED lights will be a great addition to this game.

item

The rebuilt connector being rebuilt.

The new connector in place.

item

Only the top part was working before I installed the new connector.

item

The fish tale wire was not connected. I touched it together to ensure the coil was good and it was.

item

Wire soldered back and working coil.

item

The auto launcher worked but the left and right slings did not work because the daisy chained power wire was connected from the power through the other coils on the daisy to this coil. But the wire to the remaining two coils was broken.

Also note that the coil stop is bent. I will explain what it is doing below.

Actually, this is the wrong bracket. A new on was ordered and installed and the game works perfectly.

item

I added a wire since it was not enough wire to comfortably work with.

item

The right sling could never work because the plunger linkage was broken.

item

A close up of the broken linkage.

item

Replaced linkage and plunger with spring.

item

To put the assembly back in, I have to unscrew the 4 screws below the light board to lift up the coil to place the plunger in.

item

Moved the light board. Now I can unscrew the 4 screws.

item

EVERY light on this game was burnt out. I put in 3 lights into each of the three GI circuits. I previously showed the 2 GI circuits now worked in the back box. Therefore, this shows that the new connector fixed all five general illumination (GI) circuits. I only replaced 1 light bulb since I expect that this game will get all LEDs.

item

I played the game and the flipper did not work. I lifted the playfied and the flipper worked. This bent plunger bracket is in the way of the flipper board. In the pictures below, I show the original position and the moved positiob to work. Once restored, this bracket should be replaced for a few bucks.

The bracket has beenreplaced with the correct bracket.

Here is my first attempt (ok second since I did the decals on an F14) to replace a section of the playfield. Here is the playfield before it was cleaned. This took 3 hours to do.

Virginia Sales Tax

Virginia sales tax is currently 6.0%. Sales tax for in-state orders applies to machines and parts. It does not apply to the delivery or repair services.

Warranty

As of August 1, 2014, we will no longer provide a warranty with our pinballs unless you purchase a separate warranty from us. A 1 year warranty is $500 or pay as you go if you even need it. If you buy it directly from us and take it home yourself, you will be inspecting it to ensure it works. If we deliver, we will ensure that it works 100% when delivered.

Reasons You Should Let Us Deliver Your Pinball (or Another Machine)

  1. We will NOT provide a warranty for the machine since we cannot be assured that a problem did not happen when you transported the machine. (As of August 1, 2014, we will no longer provide a warranty with our pinballs unless you purchase a separate warranty from us. A 1 year warranty is $500 or pay as you go if you even need it. 2. We take responsibility for any damage that may occur during the delivery process.
  3. We professionally set up the machine, connect all the connectors, attach the legs, head, etc. and ensure that the pinball works properly. If anything is out of adjustment due to moving the machine, we can fix it in a few minutes as compared to having to come to your house later and charging you a trip fee and repair charge.
  4. If anything major is out of adjustment, we can order parts and repair. This hardly ever happens but it could and you and the machine are protected.

Delivery Options

We are currently set up for local delivery only within the Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and North-Eastern West Virginia area. If you are interested in shipping the pinball machine, we will contact a shipper. You will pay all crating and postage costs.

If you would like us to deliver and set up within 50 miles of Purcellville, the charge is $300; within 100 miles $475. The delivery charge includes delivery to a first floor or basement level if walk-out.

We will not sell you a game/deliver the game if the only entrance to your basement is an inside the house staircase. They are too narrow. Plus we have to ensure we don't mess up carpet or wood. It just isn't worth it.

You may also come and pick up the machine from our location.
